City Crops Agro Limited reported a sharp deterioration in its H1 FY26 results. Revenue from operations collapsed to ₹320.32 lakhs from ₹2,185.92 lakhs in the same period last year, an roughly 85% drop. The company swung from a profit after tax of ₹123.07 lakhs in H1 FY25 to a loss of ₹584.97 lakhs, with EPS turning negative at ₹-3.59 versus ₹0.75. The losses were largely driven by destruction of perishable stock-in-trade, which the company notes had no insurance coverage. Reserves and surplus fell to ₹953.28 lakhs from ₹1,538.24 lakhs, and cash from operations turned negative at ₹-50.12 lakhs.
Shareholders should note the steep revenue fall, swing to loss, and uninsured stock destruction as significant red flags that may weigh on the stock. The auditor's 'Other Matter' comments about an unrecorded Union Bank charge, unpaid income tax dues of around ₹53.59 lakhs for FY22-24, and uninsured stock losses add further risk and warrant close scrutiny.
