City Union Bank submitted its Q1 FY26 investor presentation showing steady business growth. Total business rose 18% year-on-year to Rs 1,19,754 crore, driven by 20% growth in deposits (Rs 65,734 crore) and 16% growth in advances (Rs 54,020 crore). Net profit increased 16% YoY to Rs 3,059 crore, while net interest income grew 15% to Rs 6,253 crore. Asset quality improved with gross NPA falling to 2.99% (from 3.88%) and net NPA to 1.20% (from 1.87%). Return on assets held steady at 1.55% and ROE improved to 12.85%. Capital adequacy remained strong at 23.10% with Tier 1 at 22.09%. The bank operates 876 branches and 1,776 ATMs with a workforce of 7,725 employees. Gold loans now contribute 28% to advances, growing 31% YoY.
Positive for shareholders — steady loan and deposit growth, improving asset quality, and strong capital position support earnings stability. However, NIM remains flat at 3.54% (down from 3.60% in FY25) and cost of deposits is rising, which could pressure margins going forward.
