City Union Bank reported its highest-ever quarterly profit, crossing the INR 300 crore PAT mark for the first time at INR 306 crores, up 16% year-on-year. Credit growth was strong at 16% YoY with advances rising to INR 54,020 crores, and deposits grew 20% to INR 65,734 crores. NIM for the quarter stood at 3.54%, and management reiterated full-year FY26 NIM guidance of around 3.5%, with quarterly trajectory of 3.45-3.5% in Q2, 3.55% in Q3, and 3.55-3.6% in Q4. Asset quality improved sharply with GNPA falling to 2.99% (from 3.88%) and net NPA to 1.2% (from 1.87%), while SMA2 dropped to 1.59% from 2.22%. ROA held at 1.55% and cost-to-income ratio at 48.12%, with operating profit up 21% to INR 451 crores. Management expects 75-80 branch additions this year, credit cost of 0.2-0.25%, and PCR rising to 63-64%.
Strong all-round performance with record profit, healthy growth, and improving asset quality, coupled with maintained margin guidance despite rate cuts, is positive for shareholders. The bank's focus on secured MSME lending and conservative provisioning reduces asset quality risks, though management flagged that the US tariff situation is being monitored for textile exposures.
