City Union Bank reported strong Q4 & FY2026 results with total business growth of 24% YoY, the highest in recent years. Advances grew 26% to INR 66,698 crores while deposits increased 23% to INR 78,308 crores. PAT grew 18% to INR 1,326 crores for FY26, with ROA at 1.56%. Asset quality improved significantly with gross NPA dropping below 2% (1.91%) for the first time in 11 years, and recoveries exceeding slippages. The bank opened its 1,000th branch. NIM for FY26 was 3.74% (vs 3.60% in FY25). Key leadership transition occurred as Dr. N. Kamakodi completed his 15-year tenure as MD & CEO on April 30, 2026, handing over to R. Vijay Anandh effective May 1, 2026. The new CEO has guided for 2-3% growth above industry levels and ROA improvement to 1.65-1.67% in FY27.
The bank delivered strong all-round performance with improving asset quality and margins. The leadership transition appears smooth with the new CEO providing clear guidance. The focus on core MSME, gold loans, and secured retail with conservative risk practices should support stable performance. However, elevated operating expenses (15-18% growth) and external risks from global factors warrant monitoring.
