Coal India Limited reported provisional production and off-take figures for March 2026 and the full fiscal year Apr'25-Mar'26. Total coal production in March 2026 was 84.5 million tonnes, down 1.5% YoY from 85.8 million tonnes. For the full year, CIL produced 768.1 million tonnes versus 781.1 million tonnes last year, a decline of 1.7%. Off-take also declined to 744.8 million tonnes from 763.0 million tonnes last year, down 2.4%. Among subsidiaries, NCL and ECL showed positive production growth, while MCL, SECL, and WCL recorded declines.
The decline in production and off-take volumes indicates weaker coal demand or operational challenges. This could negatively impact Coal India's revenue growth for FY26 and may be a concern for investors expecting volume growth.
