Coal India reported provisional April 2025 coal production of 62.1 million tonnes (MT), marginally higher than 61.8 MT in the same month last year. Subsidiary-wise, NCL led with 12.2 MT, followed by MCL at 16.0 MT and SECL at 14.0 MT, while NEC remained negligible at 0.1 MT. Off-take (despatches) stood at 63.4 MT for April 2025, compared to 64.2 MT in April 2024 — a decline of about 1.2%. The figures are provisional and submitted under SEBI LODR Regulation 30. The data shows near-flat production but slightly weaker offtake, suggesting demand-side softness even as mining output held steady.
Near-stable production is mildly positive, but the dip in offtake signals softer near-term demand or logistics bottlenecks. For shareholders, this is a routine monthly update with no major surprise, though the offtake slip may draw short-term attention from analysts tracking volumes.
