Coal India spent Rs 3,399 crore on capex in Q1 FY27, up 16.64% YoY from Rs 2,914 crore, beating the quarterly target of Rs 3,349 crore (101.5% achieved). This represents 20.60% of the annual Rs 16,500 crore capex target. Land acquisition got Rs 804 crore, plant and machinery Rs 819 crore, and coal evacuation infrastructure Rs 949 crore. Solar projects received Rs 278 crore, joint ventures Rs 207 crore. FY26 capex was Rs 19,607 crore versus Rs 16,000 crore target.
Strong capex execution signals continued investment in mining, evacuation and clean energy, supporting future production growth and diversification.
