Credit cards lose ground as small-ticket personal loans gain traction: CIBIL

A TransUnion CIBIL report says credit cards are losing ground to small-ticket personal loans in the consumption-driven small credit space, with cards no longer being the default option. Card balances grew eightfold in a decade to over Rs 3 lakh crore by March 2025, but delinquency risk is spilling across credit products. Among occasional card users, 4 percent missed at least two payments across products in a 12-month period, with card delinquency at 0.6 percent.
