CSB Bank shared its Q1 FY26 investor presentation showing strong balance sheet growth, with total business rising 25% year-on-year to ₹68,879 crore and gross advances up 31% to ₹32,944 crore. Deposits grew 20% YoY to ₹35,935 crore, with retail deposits making up 59% of the mix. Profit after tax inched up just 5% YoY to ₹119 crore despite total income jumping 28% to ₹1,286 crore, as net interest margin (NIM) compressed sharply from 4.36% to 3.54% and credit costs rose to 0.53%. Net non-performing assets stood at 0.66%, though gross NPAs edged up to 1.84% from 1.69%. The bank outlined its 'SBS 2030' strategy to transform into a mid-sized, new-age private sector bank with a national presence, focusing on digital platforms, retail expansion, and fee income growth.
The sharp NIM compression and modest PAT growth despite strong top-line expansion may concern investors about near-term profitability. However, healthy capital adequacy of 21.71%, improving CD ratio of 91.67%, and a clear long-term roadmap could support investor confidence if margin pressures ease through the fee-income and digital growth strategy.
