CSB Bank reported Q1 FY26 net profit of INR 119 crore (up 5% YoY) and operating profit of INR 220 crore (up 28% YoY), with other income growing 42% YoY to 19% of total income. Cost-to-income ratio improved to 64.70% from 67.69% a year ago. NIM was held steady at 3.54% despite rate transmission pressure, and management stated NIM has bottomed out. Deposits grew 20% YoY and advances 31% YoY, both well above the ~10% industry average, with all three verticals (gold, corporate, SME) growing over 30%. Asset quality remained healthy with GNPA at 1.84% and NNPA at 0.66%, and CRAR stood strong at 21.71%. The bank completed its major technology migration to the new Flexcube CBS platform with 50+ surround systems going live.
Shareholders can view this as a steady quarter with strong growth metrics (deposits, advances, operating profit) outpacing the industry, but slightly weaker bottom-line growth (5%) due to higher slippages. Management's NIM floor guidance of 3.5%-4% and ROA target of 1.5% for FY26 (slightly tempered from earlier 1.5%-1.8% due to global uncertainty) provide reasonable visibility, while the completed tech platform sets up a 'scale phase' from FY27 onwards that could drive operating leverage and re-rating.
