CSB Bank reported Q1 FY26 results with total income of ₹1,28,565 lakhs, up about 28% year-on-year from ₹1,00,386 lakhs in Q1 FY25, driven by 25% growth in interest earned on advances. Operating profit before provisions grew to ₹22,031 lakhs from ₹17,249 lakhs. However, net profit rose only modestly to ₹11,860 lakhs (up ~4.7%) as provisions jumped sharply to ₹6,079 lakhs from ₹2,006 lakhs in the year-ago quarter. Asset quality weakened with Gross NPAs rising to 1.84% (from 1.57% in Q4 FY25) and Net NPAs to 0.66% (from 0.52%). The bank maintained a healthy Capital Adequacy Ratio of 21.71% and reported EPS of ₹6.84.
Strong revenue and operating profit growth is offset by a sharp rise in provisioning costs and worsening NPA ratios, which kept bottom-line growth muted. Asset quality deterioration and the doubling of provisions may weigh on near-term investor sentiment despite solid business momentum.
