Dalmia Bharat's wholly owned subsidiary, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), received a Rectification Order from the State Tax Officer in Rourkela, Odisha, confirming a tax demand of Rs. 2,60,704 along with interest and a penalty of Rs. 26,070. The demand related to an alleged ineligible Input Tax Credit claim from June 2019 to March 2020 due to a supplier's non-submission of returns. DCBL applied for waiver of the interest and penalty under Section 128A of the CGST Act, and on April 17, 2025, the Asst. Commissioner of CT & GST waived the entire interest of Rs. 2,04,678 and penalty of Rs. 26,070. The company has stated there will be no major financial impact on DCBL as a result of this waiver.
Positive for shareholders — the interest and penalty (~Rs. 2.3 lakhs) have been fully waived, leaving only the small original tax demand of Rs. 2.6 lakhs. This is a routine tax matter with negligible financial impact and no bearing on the stock price.
