DCM Shriram has started injecting renewable power from its Wind Solar Hybrid project at the Kota Complex. The project, set up through a Special Purpose Vehicle (JSW Renew Energy Thirty Two Limited), has an installed capacity of ~68 MW (~34 MW average) designed to replace the existing coal-based 40 MW power supply. The current renewable power injection has commenced for part of the capacity at an average of ~15 MW. This is a phased rollout, with the full 34 MW average capacity expected to come online progressively.
The commencement of renewable power at 15 MW average represents about 44% of the target average capacity. Once fully operational, this should reduce electricity costs and carbon footprint for the Kota Complex, though the actual financial impact will depend on coal and renewable energy price differentials.
