Punjab National Bank (PNB) has been imposed a monetary penalty of Rs. 3,35,000 (plus applicable GST) by NSE Limited for failing to close the Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) vulnerabilities identified for FY 2024-2025. The non-compliance pertains to SEBI Circular dated 06.02.2023 and Exchange Notice dated 12.09.2024, which mandate timely resolution of cybersecurity gaps by listed entities. The bank received the order on 10th June 2025 and has stated that the financial impact is limited to the penalty amount. PNB has already approached NSE to seek a review of the imposed penalty.
The penalty amount is negligible relative to PNB's size, so this is unlikely to have any material impact on the stock. However, it flags a governance/cybersecurity lapse that investors should track, especially for a public-sector bank handling sensitive financial data.
