Dwarikesh Sugar Industries reported a loss after tax of Rs. 9.38 crore in Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025), slightly improved from a Rs. 9.73 crore loss in Q1 FY25. Total income grew about 19% year-on-year to Rs. 405.97 crore, while EBITDA rose to Rs. 4.43 crore from Rs. 2.89 crore. The loss was attributed to early end of the 2024-25 crushing season and distillery operations in early June 2025, leading to under-absorption of overhead costs. Industrial alcohol sales jumped sharply to 21,649 KL from 12,358 KL last year, and the company has fully cleared cane dues for the 2024-25 season. Average sugar realisation improved to Rs. 3,962/quintal from Rs. 3,833/quintal. Management remains optimistic about higher crushing volumes and better recovery rates in the upcoming 2025-26 sugar season, supported by ISMA's projection of 34.9 million tons of gross sugar output.
While the company remained in the red for the quarter, the narrower loss, strong revenue growth, and sharply higher distillery volumes signal improving operational momentum. Shareholders may view the cleared cane dues, retained ICRA AA- credit rating, and management's upbeat seasonal outlook as positive, though the stock may remain pressured until the next crushing season delivers a clear profit.
