East West Freight Carriers Ltd reported a weak set of numbers for Q1FY26. Standalone revenue from operations fell sharply to Rs. 5,346.41 lakhs, down about 40% from Rs. 8,945.74 lakhs in the same quarter last year. The company slipped into a loss at the standalone level, posting a loss before tax of Rs. 63.01 lakhs versus a profit of Rs. 72.56 lakhs in Q1FY25, and a loss after tax of Rs. 53.01 lakhs. Consolidated results were also negative, with revenue dropping to Rs. 5,655.71 lakhs (from Rs. 9,273.32 lakhs YoY) and a loss after tax of Rs. 32.15 lakhs against a profit of Rs. 61.54 lakhs a year ago. The subsidiary Unique Air Freight Express & Logistics contributed revenue of Rs. 312.19 lakhs and a net profit of Rs. 27.81 lakhs to the consolidated numbers. Statutory auditors Mittal & Associates issued an unmodified limited review opinion on both standalone and consolidated results.
Sharply lower revenue and a return to losses signal continued pressure on the freight forwarding business, which is negative for shareholders. The swing from profit to loss and the steep top-line decline may weigh on the stock sentiment in the near term.
