Eicher Motors Limited (EML) has approved investment of up to Rs. 750 Crore to acquire 50% equity stake in Volvo Financial Services (India) Private Limited (VFS India) through subscription of fresh equity shares. VFS India is an RBI-registered Non-Deposit taking NBFC engaged in providing financing and leasing services to customers of AB Volvo group and VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd (VECV). As of March 31, 2026, VFS India has assets under management of Rs. 1,825 Crore, net worth of Rs. 492 Crore, and turnover of Rs. 174.98 Crore for FY 2025-26. The transaction marks EML's entry into captive financial services and will serve customers of AB Volvo, VECV, and EML's two-wheeler business (Royal Enfield) within India. The JV will operate under shared control with equal board representation from both partners. The deal is subject to Reserve Bank of India approval and is expected to close by December 2026.
The investment enables Eicher Motors to diversify into financial services, creating a new revenue stream aligned with its core automotive businesses. While it is a related party transaction (due to existing VECV JV with AB Volvo), the Rs. 750 Crore outflow represents a significant capital deployment that shareholders should monitor for returns from captive financing operations.
