EKI Energy Services has been appointed as the Carbon Consultant for the Varanasi Smart City Bio-Conversion Project, located in Shahanshahpur, Varanasi district. The project uses anaerobic digestion to convert about 70 tonnes per day of animal manure and organic waste into compressed biogas, with an expected reduction of 33,187 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions over a seven-year crediting period. It produces 2,500–2,800 kg/day of compressed biogas along with organic manure by-products, and has already avoided 2,806 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions in its first monitoring period. The project is part of the Government of India's SATAT initiative and involves collaboration with the Adani Group, Gobardhan Varanasi Foundation SPV, and local authorities. No financial value of EKI's consultancy role was disclosed.
This adds to EKI's growing portfolio of carbon credit and climate consulting projects, reinforcing its positioning in India's carbon market, but the lack of disclosed contract value limits immediate assessment of revenue impact.
