Electrosteel Castings reported weak Q1 FY26 results with consolidated total income falling 22.1% year-on-year to ₹1,586 Crores, weighed down by a temporary slowdown in Jal Jeevan Mission funding. Consolidated EBITDA nearly halved to ₹198 Crores (margin compressing 605 basis points to 12.5%), and profit after tax dropped 60.6% to ₹89 Crores, with diluted EPS at ₹1.44 versus ₹3.65 a year ago. Standalone numbers mirrored this trend, with PAT of ₹86 Crores (down 59.5%) and DI pipe sales declining to 1.63 lakh tons from 2.06 lakh tons in Q1 FY25. On a positive note, the company announced the 100% acquisition of Italy-based T.I.S Service S.p.A, a valve and water infrastructure equipment maker with a patented product that generates electricity from water pressure, expanding its footprint into Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Africa.
The sharp drop in revenue and profits is likely to pressure the stock in the near term, though management has attributed it to a temporary government funding pause. The TIS acquisition adds a new growth vertical in valves and clean-energy water technology, which could support long-term value creation if execution stays on track.
