Engineers India Limited (EIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) on August 12, 2025 at NPCIL's Mumbai office. Under this MoU, EIL will provide engineering services covering the conceptual design and engineering of structures, systems and components for the Bharat Small Modular Reactor (BSMR). The agreement was signed by senior officials from both PSUs in the presence of CMD EIL Ms. Vartika Shukla and CMD NPCIL Shri B.C. Pathak. The partnership supports the Government of India's nuclear energy mission, which targets 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047. EIL is a PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, while NPCIL operates under the Department of Atomic Energy.
This MoU opens a new revenue stream for EIL in India's nuclear energy sector, diversifying beyond its traditional oil & gas focus. While an MoU is not a binding contract, it positions EIL as a key engineering partner in the government's nuclear expansion plans, which could translate into significant long-term order book additions.
