Eraaya Lifespaces' subsidiary Ebix Technologies Limited has partnered with NSDL Payments Bank to launch India's first statewide National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) programme for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). The programme, inaugurated by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, covers over 50 concessional categories for senior citizens, students, women, and persons with disabilities. The programme guarantees a minimum of 70 lakh NCMC cards in Year 1, scaling to over 2 crore cards statewide, distributed across 3,000 retail outlets and MSRTC depots. The contract is valued at 'hundreds of crores of rupees.' MSRTC operates a fleet of over 16,000 buses carrying more than 13 crore passengers monthly across Maharashtra. The company sees national replication potential with a total addressable opportunity running into thousands of crores across India's 150+ state road transport undertakings.
This partnership represents a significant government technology contract for Eraaya's payments segment and positions Ebix as a key player in India's interoperable transit payments ecosystem. The large-scale rollout could contribute meaningfully to revenue, with potential for nationwide expansion.
