ESAF Small Finance Bank reported total deposits of ₹24,006 Crore, up 7.10% year-on-year, with CASA deposits growing 7.83% YoY to ₹6,030 Crore and CASA ratio improving to 25.12%. Gross advances rose 13.06% YoY to ₹20,680 Crore, driven by a 57.95% surge in secured loans (gold, mortgage, MSME, agriculture) to ₹13,097 Crore, while micro loans declined 24.16% YoY to ₹7,583 Crore as the bank rebalanced toward secured lending. Secured loans now make up 63.33% of the book versus 45.33% a year earlier. The bank sold or wrote off NPAs worth ₹1,693.65 Crore to ARCs for ₹183.18 Crore, added 5.71 lakh new customers (total base 99.85 lakh), expanded to 788 branches, and appointed Shri. Karthikeyan Manickam as the new Part-Time Chairman.
The clear shift from unsecured micro loans to secured lending should support better asset quality over time, though the sharp micro loan contraction may weigh on near-term growth perception. Healthy deposit growth, an improving CASA ratio, and a major NPA cleanup strengthen the balance sheet, while the new Chairman brings veteran banking experience.
