Escorts Kubota sold 10,354 tractors in May 2025, marginally up 0.7% from 10,286 units a year ago. Domestic tractor sales slipped 2% YoY to 9,703 units, while export sales jumped 71.3% to 651 units, helped by a timely monsoon and expectations of above-normal rainfall. YTD (Apr–May FY26) tractor volumes were nearly flat at 19,083 units versus 19,125. The Construction Equipment (CE) division, however, sold only 321 machines, a sharp 29.9% drop from 458 in May 2024, as the CE market faces headwinds from emission norm-related price hikes, early monsoon, and delayed infrastructure project rollouts. Management expects CE demand to recover in the second half of the fiscal year.
Mixed signals for shareholders: export-led tractor growth and positive monsoon commentary support the agri-machinery outlook, but the steep 30% YoY decline in construction equipment volumes and weak domestic tractor demand are near-term negatives that could pressure margins and sentiment in the short run.
