Federal Bank reported Q1 FY26 standalone net profit of ₹861.75 crore, down about 14.6% from ₹1,009.53 crore in Q1 FY25, mainly due to provisions nearly tripling to ₹400.16 crore from ₹144.27 crore a year ago. Total income grew around 7.6% YoY to ₹7,799.61 crore, supported by a 5.9% rise in interest earned and a 21.6% jump in other income. Asset quality improved, with Gross NPA falling to 1.91% (from 2.11% YoY) and Net NPA to 0.48% (from 0.60% YoY). Capital Adequacy Ratio strengthened to 16.03% from 15.57% YoY, though RoA slipped to 0.25% from 0.32%. Joint statutory auditors MSKA & Associates and Suri & Co issued an unmodified limited review report on both standalone and consolidated results.
Short-term sentiment may be soft due to the sharp YoY drop in profit driven by higher provisioning, but improving asset quality and stronger capital position provide a stable medium-term outlook for shareholders.
