Fermenta Biotech has filed its Q1 FY2025-26 earnings presentation with BSE. Consolidated revenue rose 79% year-on-year to INR 145 crore (up 1% QoQ), while EBITDA surged 922% YoY to INR 37 crore (down 9% QoQ). Profit after tax stood at INR 21.6 crore, swinging from a INR 5.9 crore loss a year ago (down 35% QoQ), translating to an EPS of INR 7.49. Excluding real estate, core revenue grew 81% YoY to INR 141.5 crore with EBITDA up 9% QoQ, supported by 83% YoY growth in human nutrition volumes and 45% in animal nutrition. The German subsidiary posted a strong 588% YoY revenue jump to INR 15.7 crore. New milestones include a new environmental solutions subsidiary, an MoU with NIFTEM-T for a Food Fortification Centre of Excellence, GAIN premix supplier approval, and EDQM CEP certification for VITADEE 100 SD enabling European market entry.
The sharp YoY turnaround in profitability, strong volume growth, and new global certifications are positive for long-term growth, though the QoQ decline in EBITDA and PAT (mainly due to lower real estate value unlocking and tax base effects) may temper near-term excitement. The European market access via CEP and new strategic partnerships support a constructive outlook for shareholders.
