Fermenta Biotech reported Q1 FY26 standalone revenue from operations of Rs 11,901.87 lakhs, down about 2.5% from Rs 12,203.79 lakhs in Q1 FY25. However, the core Bulk Drugs/Chemicals segment grew roughly 10.6% YoY to Rs 11,672.43 lakhs, while the Property segment revenue dropped sharply from Rs 1,089.57 lakhs to Rs 355.22 lakhs due to lower one-time property sales. Standalone profit after tax fell around 45% YoY to Rs 1,623.38 lakhs (vs Rs 2,931.12 lakhs), with EPS at Rs 5.57 vs Rs 10.05. Consolidated PAT declined about 35% to Rs 2,160.17 lakhs (EPS Rs 7.49 vs Rs 11.79). Employee and other expenses rose faster than revenue, compressing operating margins. Statutory auditor SRBC & Co LLP issued an unmodified limited review report on both results.
Short-term headwinds: weak YoY comparison because of last year's large property-sale income and rising operating costs dragged profitability sharply. Investors should watch core Bulk Drugs growth (which is healthy) for a more sustainable earnings trajectory in coming quarters. Near-term stock may stay pressured due to the steep YoY earnings decline.
