Fino Payments Bank shared its Q1 FY26 investor presentation. Revenue stood at ₹453.5 Cr, up 4% year-on-year but down 8% quarter-on-quarter due to a sharp drop in the traditional remittance and cash withdrawal business. Profit before tax was largely flat YoY at ₹24.6 Cr but fell 17% QoQ. Net margins improved 250 basis points YoY to 33.5%, helped by a shift towards higher-margin CASA and digital payment services, which now contribute 57% of revenue. Average deposits grew strongly at 34% YoY to ₹2,275 Cr, and capital adequacy remained healthy at 75.8%. Management flagged that RBI evaluation for a Small Finance Banking license is in progress, and the bank is investing in a new core banking platform in FY26.
Mixed quarter for shareholders: margins and deposit growth are improving, but the traditional transaction business is shrinking fast under new regulations, dragging down sequential profits. The small finance bank license remains a key catalyst to watch.
