Finolex Industries reported Q1 FY26 standalone revenue from operations of ₹1,043.15 crore (flat vs ₹1,140.49 crore in Q1 FY25), with profit after tax of ₹96.93 crore vs ₹505.20 crore in Q1 FY25. The decline is mainly because Q1 FY25 included a one-time exceptional gain of ₹416.99 crore from sale of leasehold land rights at Chinchwad, Pune (25.27 acres). Standalone EPS was ₹1.57 vs ₹8.17 in Q1 FY25. The board approved a major leadership overhaul: Mr. Udipt Agarwal (currently CCO at Alkyl Amines Chemicals) will take over as Managing Director from November 1, 2025 for a 5-year term, while current MD Mr. Saurabh Dhanorkar steps down on October 25, 2025 after turning 70. Mr. Rambabu Sanka (internal, currently President-Technical) was appointed Director-Technical. Director-Technical Mr. Saumya Chakrabarti resigned for personal reasons, and Independent Director Mr. Rajesh Rathi also resigned. New secretarial auditor M/s. SVD & Associates was appointed for 5 years. The 44th AGM is set for September 12, 2025.
Operational Q1 performance was weak with revenue and profits declining sharply YoY, though this is largely due to last year's base being inflated by a one-time land sale gain. The bigger story is the leadership transition — the new MD is an external hire from the chemicals industry, which may bring fresh strategic direction, but the simultaneous exit of the existing MD and Director-Technical (both KMPs) introduces some short-term execution risk. Shareholders should watch the September AGM for approval of the new MD appointment.
