GAIL has informed the stock exchanges that the completion schedule for the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline (MNJPL) project, spanning 1,702 km, has been revised. The new target completion date is 30th June 2026, pushed back from the earlier 1st March 2026, on a progressive basis. Three of the four pipeline sections — Mumbai-Nagpur, Nagpur-Jharsuguda (Chhattisgarh & Odisha), and Nagpur-Jabalpur — are already operational. Only the Maharashtra section of the Nagpur-Jharsuguda pipeline remains pending and is expected to be commissioned by June 2026. GAIL is also seeking approval for this extension from PNGRB. The Board approved the revision in its meeting held on 25.03.2026.
This is a project timeline extension, not a financial change, so the immediate impact on shareholders is limited. However, it signals a ~4-month delay in the last leg of the MNJPL project, which may affect revenue ramp-up from this pipeline and could draw mild scrutiny on project execution timelines.
