GAIL has informed the stock exchanges that the completion deadline for the Kochi-Koottanad-Bengaluru-Mangaluru Pipeline (KKBMPL) project has been pushed back. The pipeline, originally targeted for completion by December 2025, will now be completed by March 2026 for the balance stretch under construction. Out of the total authorized length of 1,104 km, 884 km has been laid and 628 km has been commissioned so far. The delay has been attributed to the non-availability of hindrance-free fronts (right-of-way issues). The revised schedule was approved by the Board of Directors on January 3, 2026.
The delay is operational and related to right-of-way hurdles rather than financial or technical issues, so the financial impact on shareholders is expected to be limited. However, it signals slower-than-expected execution of a key pipeline project, which may delay revenue generation from this asset.
