GAIL (India) Limited successfully berthed and discharged its first LNG vessel, GAIL Bhuwan, at the Dabhol LNG Terminal on June 2, 2025, following the completion of its landmark Breakwater Project. The terminal has now been designated an all-weather port, enabling safe and round-the-year LNG operations even during the Southwest monsoon season. Dabhol currently has a regasification capacity of 5.0 MMTPA and is connected to key pipelines serving India's gas supply network. GAIL plans to expand the terminal's capacity to 6.3 MMTPA in the first phase over the next three years, which would allow it to handle up to 100 LNG cargoes annually.
This is a positive operational milestone that enables uninterrupted, year-round operations at a key GAIL asset, improving capacity utilization and revenue potential. The planned capacity expansion from 5.0 to 6.3 MMTPA signals growth in GAIL's LNG business, which should support long-term earnings and reinforce India's energy supply security.
