GAIL (India) Limited announced that its 1,707 km Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda (MNJPL) natural gas pipeline project is nearly complete and is expected to be fully commissioned by 31st December 2025. The pipeline passes through four states — Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha — and is part of India's National Gas Grid under the PM GatiShakti initiative. Construction is fully done in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Madhya Pradesh, with only 11 km left in Maharashtra. About 1,440 km of the pipeline is already ready for gas supply. The board approved the commissioning timeline at its meeting on 24th September 2025.
This is a positive development for GAIL shareholders as the MNJPL project will expand the company's gas transportation network, opening new revenue streams from industrial and city gas distribution customers across 17 identified geographical areas and 60 districts. Timely commissioning by year-end could boost GAIL's future earnings visibility.
