GIC Housing Finance reported FY26 results with mixed performance. Sanctions grew 32% to ₹2,527 crore and disbursements rose 29% to ₹2,299 crore, indicating strong business momentum. However, total income declined marginally by 1% to ₹1,083 crore. The bottom line was impacted by a sharp 306% surge in NPA provisions (from ₹17 crore to ₹69 crore), causing profit before tax to drop 23% to ₹159 crore. Despite this, PAT fell only 4% to ₹154 crore due to a ₹42 crore lower tax provision. Asset quality deteriorated with gross NPA rising 40% to ₹445 crore (3.96% of portfolio vs 3.03% last year). The loan portfolio grew 7% to ₹11,235 crore and networth improved 7% to ₹2,106 crore. Cost-to-income ratio worsened to 59.93% from 43.14%, indicating operational efficiency challenges.
The stock may face pressure due to declining profitability and deteriorating asset quality despite strong loan growth. The 40% rise in NPAs raises concerns about credit risk management. However, the strong capital base and credit ratings (AA+ by ICRA and CRISIL) provide some stability.
