GSK India has launched two new oncology drugs, Jemperli (dostarlimab) and Zejula (niraparib), marking its entry into the oncology segment in India. Jemperli is India's first and only approved PD-1 immunotherapy for second-line treatment of dMMR/MSI-H advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer, showing a 45.5% objective response rate with 93.3% and 83.7% maintained response at 12 and 24 months in the GARNET trial. Zejula is the only once-daily oral PARP inhibitor approved in India as first-line maintenance monotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer across all biomarker types. Both drugs are already approved in over 40 countries including the US, UK, and EU. Gynaecological cancers are rising sharply in India, with endometrial and ovarian cancer incidence projected to grow by 78% and 69% respectively by 2045. GSK also introduced a patient support program called 'Phoenix' to improve access to these therapies.
This is a strategic entry into India's growing oncology market, expanding GSK's specialty medicine portfolio and tapping into a high-demand therapeutic area. The move could drive long-term revenue growth, though short-term stock impact may be limited as financial details and revenue contribution timelines were not disclosed.
