Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has launched GLIPIQ® (semaglutide) in India for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, positioning it as one of the most affordable GLP-1 therapies in the country. The product is available in both vial and pre-filled pen formats, with weekly treatment costs starting at ₹325 and ranging up to ₹440 for vials. It was approved by India's drug regulator (CDSCO) following a Phase III clinical study conducted in Indian patients. The company is also rolling out 'Sankalp', a patient support program to help patients start and stay on the therapy. This launch builds on Glenmark's prior experience in the GLP-1 category through its existing Lirafit™ (Liraglutide) brand.
This product launch strengthens Glenmark's presence in India's growing diabetes and obesity-linked therapy market and could boost domestic formulation revenues. The competitive pricing may pressure rivals but should help Glenmark capture market share in the high-demand GLP-1 segment, potentially supporting earnings growth if uptake is strong.
