Global Market: Foreign investors add $132 billion to US securities in May as equity demand stays strong

Foreign investors added a net 134 billion dollars to US equities in May, pushing 12-month cumulative purchases to 909 billion dollars. Net long-term securities inflows reached 1.33 trillion dollars over the same period, while longer-dated Treasury and corporate bond purchases stood at 56.6 billion and 52.5 billion dollars respectively. However, foreign holdings of short-term US Treasury bills declined by 43.5 billion dollars, reflecting evolving expectations around US monetary policy.
