Goa Carbon has informed the stock exchanges that the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Pune bench, has dismissed an environmental pollution case (Original Application No. 80 of 2024) filed against its Goa plant. The final order, dated 27 February 2026, was issued in favour of the company. The Tribunal rejected the applicants' claims that villagers were suffering health issues due to the plant's operations, noting that the medical reports were too general to establish any specific harm. The NGT also relied on the valid Consent to Operate granted by the Goa State Pollution Control Board and the Joint Committee Inspection report, which found no non-compliance by the company. No grounds were made out for ordering closure or shifting of the plant.
This is a positive outcome for shareholders as it removes a key environmental and operational risk hanging over the Goa plant. With no financial impact and continued permission to operate, the company's production and earnings remain unaffected.
