Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL) has invested Rs. 50 Crores in its wholly-owned subsidiary, Godawari New Energy Private Limited (GNEPL), through a rights issue of 5 crore equity shares at Rs. 10 each (at par). This increases GPIL's total stake in GNEPL from Rs. 300 Crores to Rs. 350 Crores, maintaining 100% ownership. GNEPL, incorporated in June 2025, is setting up a 20 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) plant in its first phase. The funds will be used for capital expenditure and working capital requirements of the BESS project. GNEPL currently has NIL turnover as it is in the project execution stage.
This investment signals GPIL's commitment to expanding into the energy storage segment through its subsidiary. As GNEPL is already 100% owned, this is a straightforward capital infusion rather than a change in ownership structure. The BESS plant aligns with India's energy transition goals.
