Godawari Power and Ispat has received approval from the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board to operate its Sponge Iron Division (SID) at an enhanced capacity of 650,000 MTPA, up from 594,000 MTPA, an increase of about 9.4%. The HB Wire Division has also been approved to increase from 100,000 MTPA to 115,000 MTPA, a 15% increase. The approval was granted on February 28, 2026, and is effective immediately at the existing plant site in Siltara Industrial Area, Raipur. Importantly, no additional investments or modifications are required to run the plants at the new higher capacity. This means the company can ramp up production without any fresh capital expenditure.
Positive for shareholders — the company can now produce and sell more without spending on new capacity, which should boost future revenues and operating margins. Since no extra capex is needed, the incremental volumes should flow directly to the bottom line, potentially supporting earnings growth.
