Grasim Industries' Board has approved acquisition of 26% equity stake in Ampin C&I Power Thirty Private Limited (SPV) for up to Rs. 30.60 crore in cash. The SPV, incorporated in July 2025, operates a captive wind-solar hybrid power generation facility with 37.95 MWp DC/25.30 MW AC solar and 27 MW AC wind capacity in Harihar, Karnataka. The acquisition aims to meet Grasim's green energy requirements, optimise energy costs and comply with captive power consumption regulations. The transaction is not a related party deal and requires no regulatory approvals, expected to close within 180 days.
This is a relatively small investment (Rs. 30.60 crore) for captive energy security rather than a major strategic acquisition. It supports Grasim's sustainability objectives and may help reduce energy costs long-term, but has minimal immediate impact on financials given the small stake size and the SPV's early-stage status.
