India Ratings has revised Greaves Cotton's credit ratings, downgrading its long-term issuer rating and fund-based working capital limits (INR 230 million) to IND AA-/Stable from the previous higher rating. The short-term rating on non-fund-based working capital limits (INR 600 million) has been affirmed at IND A1+. The revision is based on a consolidated assessment and was communicated via a press release dated 6th June 2025. The downgrade is a one-notch move but the outlook remains Stable, and the company continues to be classified as investment grade.
The one-notch downgrade in long-term rating may lead to marginally higher borrowing costs for Greaves Cotton on long-term debt, but the Stable outlook and affirmed top-tier short-term rating (A1+) suggest India's Ratings does not see further near-term deterioration. Shareholders should view this as a modest negative signal on credit quality, though not a serious concern at this stage.
