Greenlam Industries reported Q4 FY25 net revenue of Rs. 681.8 crores, up 9.2% year-on-year, but net profit collapsed 96.3% to just Rs. 1.5 crores due to higher operating costs from its new chipboard business, adverse forex movement of Rs. 4.3 crores, and higher depreciation and interest expenses. EBITDA fell 23.4% to Rs. 64 crores, and gross margins shrank by 230 basis points to 50.7%. For the full year FY25, revenue grew 11.4% to Rs. 2,569.3 crores, while net profit halved to Rs. 68.3 crores (down 50.5%) and EBITDA declined 6.8% to Rs. 274.6 crores. The plywood segment was a bright spot, growing 46.9% in value during Q4 and 111.7% for the full year, while laminate volumes actually shrank 5.7% in Q4 despite value growth of 7.2%. Net working capital improved by 12 days to 55 days, but net debt stood at Rs. 989.3 crores.
Despite healthy revenue growth, the sharp drop in profits is a significant negative for shareholders, driven by margin compression and costs from the new chipboard business. The stock is likely to face short-term pressure, though strong plywood growth and international expansion efforts provide some medium-term optimism.
