Greenpanel Industries, India's largest wood panel maker, reported a weak Q1FY26 with revenue falling 11.4% YoY to ₹322.6 crores and operating EBITDA collapsing 68% to ₹13 crores, taking the operating EBITDA margin down to 4% from 11.2%. The company swung to a net loss of ₹34.6 crores (vs profit of ₹15.7 crores YoY) and EPS of -₹2.82, hit by a ₹27.5 crores FX loss on Euro borrowings for its new plant. The MDF segment, which contributes ~90% of sales, saw margins shrink to 4.4% as the new Andhra Pradesh plant ran at just 31% utilisation, value-added product mix dropped to 44%, and export volumes fell nearly 40% on geopolitical issues. Net debt stood at ₹233 crores (₹206 crores at constant EUR), and management said leverage and liquidity remain comfortable to support growth.
Sharp YoY drop in profitability and unresolved margin pressure from the new plant ramp-up are likely to weigh on near-term stock sentiment, though management's focus on expanding distribution and value-added mix offers a potential recovery path for future quarters.
