GACL submitted newspaper clippings (Business Standard and Loksatta Jansatta) of its unaudited financial results for Q1 FY26 (quarter ended 30 June 2025). On a standalone basis, the company reported total income from operations of Rs. 97,730 lakhs and a net profit before tax of Rs. 1,019 lakhs, swinging back to profit from a loss of Rs. 7,122 lakhs in the year-ago quarter. Basic EPS for the quarter stood at Rs. 1.06 (not annualised). The company highlighted that its 60% material subsidiary, GACL-NALCO Alkalies & Chemicals Pvt Ltd (JV), had a plant shutdown from 22 April to 14 May 2025 due to a technical issue, which partially impacted the Chloromethane and Chlorotoluene plants at Dahej. The JV also recorded a notional gain of Rs. 681.04 lakhs from revaluation of financial liability on Compulsorily Convertible Debentures (CCDs).
A swing from loss to profit in Q1 FY26 is a positive signal for shareholders, but the operational disruption at the JV subsidiary and the partial impact on Dahej plants may weigh on sentiment and could carry over into Q2 if issues are not fully resolved.
