Gujarat Containers Ltd reported Q1 FY26 revenue from operations of Rs 3,537.76 lakhs, down about 13% from Rs 4,067.05 lakhs in the same quarter last year. Total income stood at Rs 3,540.15 lakhs versus Rs 4,069.02 lakhs YoY. Profit before tax fell sharply to Rs 222.13 lakhs from Rs 340.27 lakhs, a decline of roughly 35%. Net profit for the quarter came in at Rs 166.53 lakhs, down about 33% from Rs 247.71 lakhs YoY, translating to an EPS of Rs 2.95 compared to Rs 4.38. Sequentially, however, PAT was broadly flat versus Rs 165.64 lakhs in Q4 FY25. Raw material and employee costs declined in line with revenue, but overall profitability margins compressed meaningfully.
Weak YoY performance with both revenue and profits shrinking significantly suggests near-term demand pressure or pricing challenges in the packaging business. Margin compression is a concern, though stable sequential profit offers some reassurance.
