Gujarat Gas has signed a Gas Sales Agreement with Waaree Energy to supply 50,000 scmd of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for Waaree's upcoming Lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant in Valsad, Gujarat. The plant is currently under construction and is expected to be commissioned in Q4 of FY 25-26. Waaree Energy is India's largest solar PV module manufacturer with 13.3 GW capacity and is expanding into lithium-ion cells, hydrogen cells and solar wafers. For Gujarat Gas, this adds a new industrial customer to its portfolio as India's largest City Gas Distribution company serving over 22.67 lakh households and 4,000+ industrial units.
This is a new industrial PNG supply contract that adds a small but strategically relevant customer (a marquee clean energy player) to Gujarat Gas's commercial portfolio. The volumes (50,000 scmd) are modest relative to GGL's overall business, so the immediate financial impact is limited, though it supports long-term volume growth as Waaree's lithium-ion facility scales up.
