Hasti Finance, a small non-deposit taking NBFC, reported a sharp deterioration in H1 FY26 with a net loss of Rs. 452.95 lakhs versus a small profit of Rs. 2.16 lakhs in H1 FY25. The pain came almost entirely from a Rs. 449.99 lakh impairment on financial instruments and a net loss on derecognition of financial assets under amortised cost. Total income for the half year was only Rs. 22.01 lakhs versus Rs. 860.56 lakhs a year earlier, and the standalone PBT slipped to a loss of Rs. 452.09 lakhs. The balance sheet shows Other Equity turning negative at Rs. (347.50) lakhs versus Rs. 944.48 lakhs last year, eroding shareholder funds sharply. The statutory auditor (Vandana V. Dodhia & Co.) issued an unqualified limited review report with no going-concern paragraph or qualifications.
Highly negative for shareholders - the company has swung from profit to a large loss, its net worth has turned negative, and cash on hand is negligible (Rs. 0.15 lakh), raising serious concerns about asset quality and financial sustainability. Expect significant negative reaction in the stock despite the clean auditor report.
