Havells India posted a decent Q4 FY25 with healthy revenue and profit growth, led by large appliances and cables, while margins were maintained year-on-year despite ongoing commodity price volatility. Lloyd delivered a robust performance, achieving a full-year EBIT of INR100 crore, with over 50% of sales now coming from the modern retail channel. Management announced a strategic INR600 crore investment in Goldi Solar to secure solar panel supply and enter the renewable energy space, while guiding total capex of about INR2,000 crores over the next two years including a new R&D center. Cable and wire segment grew ~20% with demand remaining strong, and the company expects Havells ex-Lloyd to return to normalized margin levels of 13-14.5%, while targeting 38-40% contribution margins in switchgears. Export business is currently 3-3.5% of revenue with focus on US, Europe, and Australia markets.
The earnings call signals steady core performance, a strategic push into solar via Goldi Solar investment, and clearer margin recovery guidance for the ex-Lloyd business, which could be viewed positively by investors. However, management's reluctance to provide specific margin targets for Lloyd over the next 2-3 years may temper some near-term optimism on that segment's profitability trajectory.
