Havells India has announced it is adding a new line of business — Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), which means EV chargers — to its existing switchgear business. The company sees this as a way to strengthen its position in the renewable energy ecosystem and tap into India's growing EV market, which it estimates at around Rs. 1,500 crore. The investment required is modest, in the range of Rs. 7-10 crores, and the new business is expected to become operational by the end of Q3 FY 2026 (around December 2025). The chargers will be sold as an extension of Havells' current switchgear and electrical products portfolio rather than as a standalone business.
This is a small but strategically positive diversification move. The investment size is minor relative to Havells' overall business, so financial impact will be limited in the near term, but it positions the company to participate in India's EV growth story and complements its existing electrical products range.
