Hi-Tech Pipes has started commercial production at its new greenfield manufacturing plant in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir. The facility has an installed capacity of 80,000 tonnes per annum (MTPA) and will produce ERW steel pipes along with coated and value-added steel products. With this addition, the company's total consolidated installed capacity rises to 9,30,000 MTPA across 7 plants, bringing it close to the 1 million tonne milestone. The project involved an investment of Rs 51 crore, funded through Rs 26.50 crore of debt and Rs 24.50 crore of internal accruals. The new unit is strategically located to serve northern markets (J&K, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh) and is expected to start contributing meaningfully from mid-Q4FY26 onwards.
Positive near-term trigger as it adds ~9% new capacity and expands geographic reach in northern India. Over the medium term, the focus on value-added and coated products should support better realisations and EBITDA per tonne, though actual benefits depend on ramp-up and capacity utilisation.
